Myself and my husband started Fairy Magic in 2005 and for a while ran the Fairy Magic craft shop in an old barn in Kent. We had been visiting this mythical and magical part of Spain for a number of years, staying in the local caves, which dated back to the time of the Moores. Each trip back to England away from this magical part of Spain, got harder and harder until finally in October 2007 we put our house on the market in England and found ourselves on ouur way to Spain in December 2007.

We moved into our wonderful cave home in a small rural Hamlet of Fuente Nueva in the province of Granada in January 2008. Where we have started to craft Fairy Magic products again. They are being sold in local markets and people also visit us at our cave to buy products and to commission bespoke pieces of Fairy Magic.

Fuente Nueva, is made up of mainly cave houses. Our nearest village is Orce about a 5 min drive from us.  Fuente Nueva and Orce are very famous for their prehistoric finds and the evidence of the oldest human habitation in Europe. A fossilised human scull dated 1.3 million years ago was found here. Our house sits on what used to be a lake in prehistoric times and many many fossils, such as sabre tooth tigers, mammoths have been found in our hamlet. Archaeologists come from all over the world to look for fossils here. You can therefore imagine the amount of positive energy all around us to help with our crafting.

Cave houses are carved from impervious rock as a result they create natural air conditioning in the hot summer months by circulating cool refreshing air, (quite magically) around the cave. Even more magically in the winter the heat that was stored up in the hot summer months is slowly released into the cave; therefore there is very little need for heating. Because they are so ecologically friendly and have very low running costs they are increasingly be sort after as forms of dwellings. They also have the comfort and facilities of any modern habitation.

We offer self-catering holiday accommodation in the neighbouring cave click on the following link if you want to take a look at Cueva Santa Maria
